After completing your PADI Open Water Diver certifiaction you will want to gain more skills and experience to add more fun to your diving.
You can either complete the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course or enrol on any number of Speciality Diver Courses that you may be interrested in. Some Specialities require you to be an Advanced Diver already so it might be worth signing up for the Advanced course first.
Advanced Open Water

The PADI Advanced Open Water course gives you more diving experience and builds on the skills you have already learnt, including how to dive safely to 30 metres, and expand on your navigation skills. The Course consists of 5 dives, held over 2 seperate days. You have to complete 2 core dives - Deep Dive and Navigation Dive, and then you can choose the remaining 3 dives from the following list!

Wreck dive, Search and recovery dive, Digital photography dive, Dry suit dive, Peak Performance Buoyancy dive.

- Be at least 10 years of age (some restrictions apply if under 15)

Dry Suit Diver

​This speciality introduces you to diving in a dry suit, and how to be safe and comfortable in colder water. An ideal speciality for those wanting to dive in the UK all year round, or for those who feel the cold!
What this course will cover:​
• 1 Pool dive and 2 x Open Water dives
• Planning, organisation, techniques and hazards of drysuit diving
• Dry suit buoyancy control skills
• Dry suit maintenance, storage and basic repair
• Ascent and descent procedure

Wreck Diver

This course is an introduction to wreck diving, and will show you the skills and techniques required to wreck dive.
What this course will cover:​
• 4 x Open Water trainning dives
• Planning, organisation, techniques and hazards of wreck diving
• How to research and learn the background of your favourite wreck
• Scuba diving equipment considerations for wreck diving
• Experience in planning and executing wreck dives

Deep Diver

This course teaches you the knowledge, skills and techniques for deep diving up to 40 metres.

• How to plan and organise no-decompression dives to 40m
• Safety stops and emergency decompression procedures

Enriched Air - Nitrox Diver

Learn to dive with Enriched Air Nitrox and get more time underwater with a higher percentage of Oxygen in your breathing gas.
What this course will cover:​
• 1 x Classroom session only
• Techniques for getting more dive time by using enriched air nitrox
• Enriched air scuba diving equipment considerations
• Enriched air considerations, including managing oxygen exposure
• How to tell what’s in your scuba tank
• How to set your dive computer

Search & Recovery Diver

The Search and Recovery Diver Specialty course will teach you effective ways to find objects underwater and bring them to the surface.
What this course will cover:​
• 4 x Open Water training dives
• Search and recovery dive planning, procedures and potential problems
• How to deal with potential problems
• How to locate large and small objects using search patterns
• How to use a lift bag and other recovery methods
• Limited visibility search techniques

Self Reliant Diver

Scuba diving in Milton Keynes
The Self-Reliant Diver specialty is aimed at the more experienced diver who is alredy very confident in the water and has a wide skills set. This course will sharpen your diving skills making you a stronger partner in a dive pair or team.
What this course will cover:​
• Minimum of 3 x Open Water Dives
• Planning, skills, knowledge and techniques necessary to rely on yourself first, whether or not you are diving with a buddy
• The value and application of the buddy system
• The philosophy of, and motivation for, diving without a partner
• Potential risks of diving alone, and how to manage those risks
• The value of equipment redundancy and what back-up equipment is
needed
• Dive planning and gas management

Rescue Diver

This challenging and rewarding course will expand on the diving skills you already have and teach you how to prevent problems, and how to manage them if they occur. You will learn to consider the well being and safety of other divers. Both demanding and realistic this course is very enjoyable and informative!
You will be required to complete rescue exercises and open water scenarios at a local dive site. First you will practice the skills and techniques required to assist or lead a rescue. Once you are confident in your skills you will undertake the Open Water Scenarios, where you will apply everything you've learnt in a realistic situation as part of a rescue team.

• How to recognise and manage stress in other divers
• Emergency equipment and management
• Rescuing both panicked and unresponsive divers
• Self rescue skills
• Rescue diver manual, knowledge development and exam

Emergency First Responder


The Emergency First Response courses encompass adult, child and infant CPR and first aid skills, and incorporate Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training and emergency oxygen use. Specifically designed to meet national and international compliance standards for CPR and first aid courses the Emergency First Response courses are flexible in design to accommodate scheduling and training needs. They can be taught together or alone in any combination. The course is perfect for both divers and non divers as it covers everyday scenarios rather than diving specific injuries. The course includes all of your training materials, a full day of knowledge reviews, skills practice and scenario practice.

• Scene assesment and barrier use
• Primary care with CPR
• Choking and unconsciousness
• Serious bleeding and shock management
• Automated External Defibrillator use (AED)
